This course provides a structured and practice-oriented introduction to Generative AI for manufacturing. Participants will develop an understanding of Generative AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and foundation models, and learn how these capabilities can be applied to enhance engineering, manufacturing and business processes.
The course combines theoretical concepts with hands-on practical exercises to demonstrate how Generative AI can support manufacturing use cases, improve productivity and enable AI-assisted decision-making. Participants will explore prompt engineering techniques, evaluate the capabilities and limitations of Generative AI, and gain practical experience in applying AI tools to real-world manufacturing scenarios.
Upon completion, participants will gain the following key insights and outcomes:
Understand Generative AI fundamentals, including Large Language Models (LLMs), foundation models and their applications in manufacturing.
Apply prompt engineering techniques to develop effective AI-assisted workflows for engineering and manufacturing tasks.
Evaluate Generative AI solutions by assessing their capabilities, limitations and suitability for manufacturing use cases.
Apply Generative AI tools to improve productivity, support decision-making and enhance manufacturing operations.
Technical professionals (engineers, developers, and data/automation experts) tasked with bringing innovative prototypes to life.
Non-technical stakeholders (leaders and process owners) who must assess the feasibility, value, and potential risks of adopting these transformative technologies.
